So this is apparently the new thing that everyone’s talking about. Some guy put Joker makeup on an Obama picture and posted it all over the continental U.S. And I guess that leaves all the rest of us to figure out what the hell it’s supposed to mean. By itself, it’s just a picture of Obama as the Joker. But then they put that “SOCIALISM” at the bottom, and that kind of just confuses the whole damn thing. Because seriously, socialism? What the hell?

And here’s why it’s confusing. It’s because it’s two parts of something that were put together by two different people. The image was originally done by this guy, who just took a TIME magazine picture and touched it up with Joker paint. And it looks pretty good, I might add. But then, some other mystery asshole seems to have stolen that image, slapped the word “SOCIALISM” to the bottom of it, ran it to Kinko’s, and turned it into the media shitstorm currently being witnessed. And the reason that no one can figure out what it’s supposed to mean is because it doesn’t make any damn sense. Obama + Joker = Socialism? You’re gonna have to show your work to see how it is you got to that conclusion.

If you’ve seen The Dark Knight (and since it made ten trillion dollars, I assume that you did), you know that the Joker is about as much a socialist as he is a kangaroo. Socialism is a philosophy that espouses total state control over industry. The Joker espouses a philosophy of blowing shit up and seeing what happens as a result. He says it himself, he’s an agent of chaos. A terrorist, definitely, but not a socialist. But since most people running around screaming “Socialism! Socialism!” these days seem to have reinvented the definition of the word to be “something that I don’t care for,” or “There’s a black man as president! WHAARGARBLE!” I can only assume the the statement meant to be expressed by this addition was “Barack Obama is a clown and I don’t like him.” So, yeah. It was probably Glenn Back. Man, I hate that guy.

Anyway, because I don’t like when shit doesn’t make sense, let’s try to come up with other words you could put at the bottom of this picture that would make just as much sense as SOCIALISM.
