This recent case of thuggery is worth reading, certainly of great weight for any journalist or writer. Hitchens received a beat down after defacing a Syrian Social Nationalist Party sign in Beirut. His reasoning for defacing such signs extends to the agreeable action that he takes every time he sees a Nazi swastika. In the article he calmly says, “My attitude to posters with swastikas on them has always been the same. They should be ripped down.” He received a beat-down in Beirut because of it, but the team of three journalists he was with managed to escape further beatings.
